Where it all begins...

Storytelling to Embrace and Empower Decisions for the Soul

Storytelling to

Decisions for the

Soul

“We like things to manifest right away, and they may not. Many times we’re just planting a seed and we don’t know exactly how it is going to come to fruition. It’s hard for us to realize that what we see in front of us might not be the end of the story.”

-Sharon Salzberg

Stories, quotes, music, art... any creative work can offer a new perspective on your personal story.

One morning while working in my Whole Soul Notebook, the idea for Seeds to Stories became part of my own story: the day I wrote it down. More details flowed out of me over the next few days. The idea grew and created more seeds. Suddenly relevant quotes and poetry and art and discussions appeared from out of nowhere. Each piece inspiring me and connecting to my seed idea .

It all started with a seed.

All the flowers of the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.
--Chinese Proverb

Every story begins with a seed of an idea:  a breath-taking event or a heart-breaking moment. An emotion, a powerful word, an inspirational quote, a tear, a laugh. It might come from a split-second interaction with a stranger or a life-time of shared memories with those we love most. Tiny or large, the seed might be delivered in silent stillness–when your heart is alone or when your soul feels connected to everyone and everything around you.

These seeds become part of our story. The story we choose to write upon our souls.

"The value of identity of course is that so often with it comes purpose."
--Richard Grant

We are all authors. We take our experiences and record them using emotion and intellect. One of the most common phrases we start our sentences and chapters with is “I am.” These “I am” statements are seeds of identity and decisions.

For the weekdays we write paragraphs about our jobs: I am a teacher, a developer, a lawyer, a public servant.

For the weekends and after hours we write sentences about our hobbies: I am a sports fan, a reader, a gamer, a gardener.

And woven into every day, many times unconsciously, we color each noun and verb with powerful, life-changing words:

I am afraid, lazy, angry, unlovable, unworthy, anxious, stuck.

Each day we accept or reject seeds to plant in our life stories. Some seeds may lay dormant while others sprout immediately. Each seed becomes part of the chapter we are working on.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."
--Robert Louis Stevenson

The abundance of seeds creates unlimited choices for the life stories we write. But we get to choose which seeds we plant, and when, and where in our stories. You get to choose which seeds can help you reconnect with your whole soul. I call these Whole Soul Seeds.

Whole Soul Seeds can help you determine what additional seeds you want to plant. When we become clear on who we are (I am…) and who we want to become, we make room for us to discover our WHY. Our WHY becomes the driving forces(seeds) behind our decisions and the stories we write.

When we know our WHY's, we are better able to distinguish between
unwanted seeds, weeds and the most precious types of seeds... those that feed your soul:
